I made a last minute appointment to have my blonde highlights colored darker. What a mistake! I brought in a picture of Courtney Cox with warm, dark golden, brown hair and left with Courtney Cox’s black hair. I wore a white t-shirt to the appointment and when I got home the front and back were stained brown everywhere my hair had touched the shirt. I still had color in my hair, it took me at least 20 minutes and 7 washes to get the water to run clear. I have had my hair colored from dark to light on numerous occasions but I have never had to wash the color out myself. I have never made a complaint about my hair after having gotten it colored or cut but this warranted a phone call. I spoke to the owner who was nothing but rude and told me I had to be exaggerating!! Then told me that I shouldn’t have left with my hair wet, like it was my fault. Finally, she promised she’d refund my money, but when the check came it was only to reimburse me for the cost of the shirt because they “decided I didn’t deserve the refund”!! Have these people ever heard of customer service?! Also, while I was getting my hair colored my stylist and the receptionist were discussing how there wasn’t enough time allotted for my appointment and how she was now behind schedule. If you want quality hair care run, don’t walk, from A Hair Better!!

I have been going to a hair better since I was a little girl! My mother and sister as well. I now live on the South Shore and I travel every 6 weeks to get my hair highlited!! It is amazing, the atmosphere and the staff. Highly reccommended!

I have been living in Newburyport for a couple of year now. I was going to Supercuts, which is actually a stone's throw away from this place...and I could have been going here all along! O well...now I am. Kariann is great. The price for a hair cut is reasonable. She shampoos hair better than anyone I've ever had shampoo my hair. She's friendly. The whole environment there is filled with similar hair dressers who are skilled and friendly, many who have been there a long time. It costs me only five dollars more than Supercuts and it's easily worth it because it's obvious when people give a hoot about their job, and these ladies obviously do.
