I have been going to Odalis Hair Salon for a little more than ten years and I find the experience delightful! My hair always looks good when I leave and in good condition! Not only that, my style lasts for more than a week and my hair feels good and professionally did! I love Odalis and her support staff!
I had recently discovered Odalis and had been going there for about a year. Saturdays are usually the worst time to go to any salon but one Saturday I went there and a client came in wanting color and a relaxer. I was waiting to have my hair styled after the timer went off from the dryer so I was done with hair washing, setting, etc. Odalis signaled me to come sit in her chair to be styled but asked me to wait for a few minutes because she had to check on the client having her her hair relaxed and colored. Because this client had highlights, Odalis wanted to be extra cautious about hair damage etc. so I waited patiently. After about an hour which I didn't expect to wait this long, I asked the receptionist if everything was OK and if Odalis was finished, etc. She told me that Odalis was coming but I asked if another stylist could finish my hair because I needed to leave. After Odalis came out and asked me to wait another moment or so....I said OK again . The other stylists didn't want to do my hair since Odalis said she was coming. If I didn't have a event I needed to attend and needed to look presentable, I would have stormed out of there but I really needed to have my hair styled so I waited which ended up being another hour later. While sitting there about to explode because of the time and pressure of needing to hurry up so I could attend the event I was suppose to attend, Odalis finally came out. She then mentioned that she was hungry and needed to eat becasue she hadn't eaten all day.I think she apologized but that didn't help at all. I was so distraught and in shock after waiting for about 2 plus hours just to have my hair styled that I didn't know what to say. All that time, I was thinking that I was waiting because she was concerned about that other client losing her hair. Nevertheless, I was still irritated that she had me sitting and waiting for so long. One thing I can say for sure ....I AM NEVER EVER GOING BACK THERE AGAIN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Needless to say, I was late to that event I had to attend also.
Unprofessional and rude. Do not waste your money.
I am new to Gaithersburg, Md and I was referred to Odalis by a really good friend who has been a customer of Odalis for many years. I made an appointment over the phone about two weeks in advance. The customer service that I received over the phone was not the best by far. The receptionist was abrupt and short to answer any of my questions. I thought that maybe she was having a bad day and booked the appointment any way. Excited about finding a long term stylist, I arrived to my appointment on time and much to my surprise on Saturaday morning at 8am there was not a seat in the salon to sit in. I checked in with the receptionist, confirmed what I wanted done to my hair and who my stylist was. To my surprise, I waited for 2 hours without any one making an attempt to approach me to wash my hair. I approached the receptionist several times with concern and she did not welcome my concern at all. She spoke negative about me to the other stylist in the salon and they all laughed....not knowing that I too speak spanish...I was so upset ! but refused to allow it to affect my mood. It was I who was in their mercy because I needed to attend a very important engagement. So I waited to be served. shortly over two hours I was approached and escorted to the shampoo area. After I was shampooed I was asked to take a seat up front with the rest of the customers (my hair was wet with a protein conditioner on it) I waited for over an hour for them to wash the conditioner out of my hair, set it and put me under the dryer. 45 minutes later the dryer turned off and I sat under the dryer waiting for someone to lead me to Odalis (my stylist) for at least another hour. After an hour wait a young lady approached me to come sit in her chair. The stylist began to take out the rollers and do my hair. I asked her was her name Odalis and she responded no. I told her that I specifically requested Odalis and I would appreciate it if she could do my hair. The stylist began to speak in spanish to Odalis as well as the other stylist in the salon regarding my request. Let's just say that they were not very happy. Odalis told the stylist that she was too busy to do my hair. Among other things. WOW! Right! So I sat in the chair waiting on them to make a descision. Odalis finally said that she would do my hair but after she finishes the rest of her customers (four other spanish speaking individuals).. By this time over 5 hours had passed and I was extremely fed up with the poor service and attitudes. I walked up to the receptionist and told her that I was leaving and she spoke with Odalis about it. Soon after Odalis finished up her current customer she waved me to come sit in her chair. She immediately began doing my hair. Not once did she appologize for the poor service, say hello or ask me how did I want my hair done. She only communicated with the other stylist is spanish about myself, others in the shop, and some spanish television show. After Odalis finished my hair and I asked her when did she trim my hair. She stated that I did not ask her to trim my hair. I responded that I made an appointment two weeks ago with the receptionist, told her the stylist I wanted to use (Odalis), and what I wanted done to my hair. I also confirmed with the receptionist when I checked in at 8am. Odalis began to get a slight attitude with me and stated that it was my responsibility to inform her what I wanted done and not the receptionist. Wow! Right!. I looked at the receptionist and confirmed with her that I had told her want I wanted done to my hair and she agreed that I had. They spoke in spanish to one another and then Odalis began to cut my hair. End result ...My hair look good after 6 hours of humiliation. NEVER ......EVER.....AGAIN will I ever frequent that shop. And by the way I still tipped her.... Time spent in the salon: 8am to 2:15pm.
