Karma Spa Lounge & Beauty Bar

I've gotten my nails done and my eye brows and eye lashes done at Karma and I love this place! Everyone is so friendly and I LOVE Diedra! Charlie and Sheena have both down my nails and they do a great job! They serve you a drink with your nails and make your lotion to match the scent. Cute idea! Definitely a Karma fan!
I just had my first hair cut at Karma Beauty Bar with Donna and was more than satisfied from the moment I walked in. I have not had the greatest history with hair cuts - paying a lot of money for a cut I didn't want and always left feeling disappointed. Donna took the time to listen to everything I had to say. I showed her pictures of the cut I wanted. She was extremely helpful and knowledgable -- giving me EXACTLY what I wanted. Donna is very sweet and kind and will take the time to listen and explain things along the way. I am happy to say I have found a new hair stylist, and would recommend Donna and the Karma Beauty Bar to all my friends!
Hands down the worst salon I have ever been. I am honestly shocked this place is still in business. I had been in multiple times to get my nails done with Charlie (who is so great) and decided to get my hair done with Donna. I got my hair done at a different salon 2 weeks ago and wanted it to look fresh for a wedding so I asked for highlights around the crown. I was told it would be $80+. I decided to pass because $80+ and a $45 haircut was a little much for me on that day. I decide to just do a haircut which Donna tells me is $45. She washes my hair for the cut and then proceeds to tell me "If you would have gotten the highlights the haircut is included." I then ask why she did not tell me this before can we now do the highlights and she says she doesn't have enough time (which I understand). I ask if I could come back on a different day and do both and she tells me I can't because she has already washed my hair?? So I then proceed with the cut. The cut is the worst haircut I have ever received. It is very uneven and honestly embarrassing. Not to mention I am very sensitive to cigarette smoke and Donna smelled very strongly of smoke. Also, during the cut I asked her why she was using a razor on my hair and she replied "You know many stylists would be VERY offended you asked that but I have thick skin." I was so offended I wanted to cry. She was so rude and unpleasant. Then, I go to checkout and was told it was $68 for my cut because I have hair past the shoulders?? I explained I was not told this and 5 minutes ago. I was shocked!! The owner emailed me later in the day (which is very nice) because she heard I didn't have the best experience, she offered 20% off to fix my cut. I WAS SHOCKED!!!! Stay away!!! When I went to a different salon to fix my cut the new stylist responded "I think you got punked." And thats exactly how I feel. This place doesn't even deserve one star.
I have been there three times and like Karma. 5 stars - the atmosphere! The seating, drinks, etc. 5 stars - Waxing services. Hurt far less than other waxing places. 5 stars - The manicure was wonderful. The choice of scrubs is lovely and my nails looked better than anywhere else I have been. I look forward to another one. 1 star - the haircut. I was visibly upset when I left and wish the owner had given me a reduced price. The stylist said she was "artistic" in her approach and talked NON-STOP. She bounced from one side to the other and snipped a piece here and there. She pushed a cute asymmetrical cut and I specifically stated I did not want that cut. Guess what I walked out with? I told her I needed to be done in one hour - after 1 hour 45 minutes, she finished cutting. I left without having my hair dried because I had another appointment to get to.
Stay away! I stopped in with some friends and it looked so cute and the girl who owns it was so friendly one of my friends and I made appointments for manicures and pedicures. The idea is nice, aroma therapy with a complimentary drink but they didn't have the drink that matched my choice and they gave my friend a glass of disgusting powdered lemonade for her drink. It just went down hill from there... I won't go into all the gory details but I was there for three hours and left with no polish on my nails because by the time my pedicure was finished it had all bubbled up... That night I had to take the polish off my toes because it still wasn't dry when I went to bed. My friend didn't take it off and woke up with polish from her fingers smeared everywhere (our appointments were at 11 in the morning not right before we went to bed or anything) at the end of the day I spent $83.00 and had nothing to show for it. The owner did offer for me to come back in the next day but neither of us had the time and when we asked for a partial (not a full) refund she said she didn't give refunds. She did say she would think about it and call back but we never heard from her again. It really is a shame!
