I have been trained in hairdressing. I have done my own hair for years but have a problem with my shoulders and cannot do the back well any more. I wanted a stylized, layered bob which was very short and layered up in the back and the sides were also layered and tapering down to a little shorter than the length my hair was in front, my hair was already a chin length bob. I wanted that style but could not do the back myself. I guess I should have done the front myself and just asked to have the back cut but too late now. I should have followed my first instinct and run screaming from the chair when I saw she was going to do a razor cut which I do not like since I know it is easy to hack off too much with a razor. I ended up with ... I don't know what you would call it (well I do but won't say it here). The back is short and uneven - the top is long - the sides are so short all I can do is slick it back with gel - I guess it is basically a pixie with layers that are too long for a pixie on top. I had called first and asked for someone who was good at cutting fine, fairly straight hair and said that I was picky having been a hairstylist and that the last time I "had my hair done" I had gone home and done it all over myself and that did not make me happy. I was assured that "there was no way that would happen with "****'s" haircuts." I took this to mean that it would be what I wanted NOT that there would be nothing left to work with. I EVEN had a picture of the style that I wanted that was a side view VERY CLEARLY showing that the sides were not short and hacked off! My glasses were in the way while she was cutting so I took them off and could not see that I was soon to have practically no hair in front of my ears. I am very sorry I went there - it is going to take months for the front sides of my hair to grow back - I could make it look a little better if I chopped off the top too so I could punk it up or something but then I would never get my bob back. Guess I will go invest in hats:{
