Pure Hair Design
Reviews
I've been going to Shannon at Pure Hair Design for about 6 years, and she's always done a fantastic job. If I come in with a cut/colour idea, we talk it out and Shannon sets my expectations and modifies if necessary, based on what will work with my hair texture, face shape, and skin tone. When I have no idea what I want, she gives great suggestions and my hair always comes out looking great. She's taken me from long layers, to pixie cuts, to bangs, and everything in between over the years. Highly recommend Shannon to anyone and everyone! In response to other (older) reviews, I'd like to add that they did some renovations recently, and the lighting has changed. Also, the owner has always been very nice to me :)
Worst haircut of my life. I ask for a simple trim, but instead hacks my hair like a rain forest. Asks me if the length is okay, i confirm and she continues to cut in the area, causing it to look horrible when finished. i even had a picture of my hair during the time when the length was perfect, which i showed many times to make sure that she would hopefully do it right, but of course, did not. Never will i ever go back to Pure Hair Design. It was my worst hair experience yet
I've been going for several months now to get my hair blowdried by Chrissy. She does an excellent job and I am very pleased with the service and all around atmosphere.
Had always gotten good cuts and colour from the stylist I saw, and didn't even mind the price tag, but the attitude and inexplicable rudeness of the owner has completely turned me off. My sister-in-law booked our bridal party there for her wedding (this was our normal go-to place before this) and she paid a deposit for each of our services. When it came time to pay on her wedding day, the receptionist charged everyone full price and refused to credit the bride back her deposit! They offered us "gift certificates" instead of refunds, 5 minutes after processing the payment. Half the bridal party lives downtown and won't be able to come back to Barrhaven for a hair cut. When the bride protested, the owner told her to "move out of the way" so he could serve the next person in line, then apologized to the two people waiting behind us (as if we hadn't just dropped 5 bills on hairstyles). Totally disgusted with the owner of this place, he is a complete sleaze. Guess what Pure, this is Barrhaven not Soho. Lose the attitude. By the way, your clunky work boots don't pass as combat boots, just sayin'.
I have never had such a bad haircut until I went to Pure Hair. I just moved to the area, so I thought I would try it out. I found the person on the phone to be rude, but I still hoped that was just the one person there. When I arrived, I experienced rudeness again. The haircut I received resembled a mullet. A long layer on the bottom with one short layer on top. My hair was thinned out WAY too much as well. I phoned to have it fixed and the receptionist was rude again and wanted the first stylist to fix it. I said HECK NO! Why would I let someone who butchered my hair take scissors to my head again?! The woman who fixed it wasn't much nicer and did a better job than the first person, but said since it was thinned out WAY TOO MUCH I would have to wait a few weeks for it to look okay. So it's ponytails for the next month. I am so self conscious with how it looks. Save your hair and your money and go somewhere where they are actually friendly and can provide you with a non-mullet type haircut!
