Maxi Hair Care

Maxi Hair Care is HOMOPHOBIC! Stay away if you are gay or you might be profiled like my boyfriend and I were. Maxi tried to charge my boyfriend for a nail polish he had purchased at another store the night before. Even after they saw the other store's sticker, which is not only completely different than the ones at Maxi but is also a completely different price, she still told my boyfriend he had to pay them. We asked her to call the cops because we had done nothing wrong and cannot stand being profiled. However she would not call them, probably because she knew she was only discriminating and the cops will not allow this kind of hate. Maxi is continuing to discriminate against us. Since the incident, they have been slandering our names and twisting the story, carefully forgetting that the nail polishes we were accused of stealing are not even sold at their store. I am so offended by what Maxi has done and I really hope my review gets read. Please do not support businesses that discriminate against anyone, for any reason. Hopefully this will help teach Maxi the lesson.
You have to watch out for non-English or bad English speaking businesses. On top of that you give them clear speaking instructions and later on when you complain about them giving the wrong haircut, they have this attitude of you being wrong. Only the owner speaks good English. It's hard to find a good barber that speaks good English and good customer service!!
I have been going to Maxi Hair Care since they opened back in the early 1990's when I a student at Cal. While I no longer live in Berkeley, I still go miles out of my way to Maxi's to get my hair cut since they always do a great job. I highly recommend them.
Have been going here 2 years and have tried other salons and barber shops in Berkeley. Very happy with every cut I've gotten here. I was a little nervous about working with a few of the stylists whose second language is English, but the language barrier has never been an issue. Highly satisfied customer.
