Tranquility the Salon @ Hidden Lake
Reviews
I love Tranquility and have been going there for years. They offer every service you can think of and the owner 'Bonny" will go out of her way to make you feel welcome. She has been cutting and coloring my hair for almost 25 years and I wouldn't think of going anywhere else. I also get facials and massages there and have always been completely happy with all of it. Natialie, the anestitician is amazing and sure knows her products and how to use them. One side is the salon and the other side the spa. There is a different vibe in each section and you will enjoy both!
I had my reservations when I pulled in and it was in a semi-sketchy strip mall - and then again when I smelled the interior and realized I was the only person in there without an AARP plan. I was - admittedly - 8 minutes late - no more, no less - and apologized immediately upon entering. The receptionist said "No worries" or something to that effect, and showed me where to sit while she went to see if "Carol" was ready. A few minutes later she came back out and said "because I was so late , Carol wouldn't be able to do the polish or anything" that was a part of my manicure. I said OK - no thanks, then, because that was really the entire point. So the receptionist went back and talked to Carol again, and then a few minutes later told me to go on in and get started. So, I walk in to a little separate area where Carol and another nail tech are talking loudly and harshly about how I should have lost the appointment, been forced to put down a deposit, been charged extra fees, etc. etc. for being 8 minutes late....RIGHT IN FRONT OF MY FACE. Appalled and embarrassed, I asked, "Are you talking about the fact that I was 8 minutes late?" "Oh, no," she said, patronizingly. She then proceeded to tell me how she wouldn't be able to do this and that, etc., because I was 20 minutes late (which is utterly false - I was 8 minutes late; then she spent an additional 12 yammering with the receptionist and making her run back and forth from the nail to the waiting area like a jack rabbit) about what she would and wouldn't do for me - and by the time she was done, 20 minutes had passed, apparently - and I said, well, then maybe we should just pass, because this was my rare day out without my two babies, and now I felt really pressured and rushed, and not to mention, humiliated - and the entire point of the visit, to a place called TRANQUILITY, no less, was to relax and unwind. They do bill themselves as a "spa," after all. She then snapped something rude about being early next time (is she forgetting who is paying who here?!?!?) and I said, again, forget it, and walked out. In short, the entire experience with Carol was painfully rude and unprofessional, and they should be embarrassed that any of their employees would treat a new customer like that. At a SPA. Aside from the nightmare with Carol, the interior was very dated and not at all spa-like. Never again will I stray from Tallgrass.
Not the best, it's in a crappy strip mall. The salon smell ruins the experience of the "spa". I hate the smell of hair products and that's what you get if you go here for a massage. I get the combination of a one-stop shop, but there just isn't any way to make that smell go away or the muffled sounds from the salon while you're trying to relax.
