Pigtails & Crewcuts
Reviews
Pigtails and Crewcuts is great for the kids--little time in the chair, toys while your waiting, fun chairs, and animal crackers. However, the staff could use a lesson in customer service. I walked in for my first time and was not greeted at all by anyone on staff. I stood around for five minutes before I realized that you're supposed to sign in to be waited on. I didn't notice a sign and wasn't told to sign in, so a kid got to go before us. Maybe I expect too much, but the customer service is lacking in this establishment. I've worked in salons and retail before. Greeting and assisting customers is the first thing you do when they walk in the door.
Last week, I called to speak to the Faith Nassar. The woman answering the phone was ignorant, rude and simply unprofessional. She did not identify herself. She spoke sub-standard English with a heavy Appalachian twang. I asked if I could leave my name and number. The woman stated "it really depends" and "why you calling". She said, "If Faith don't know you, she don't call you back". I was taken aback by this response. I continued to give my name and number. I also asked the woman may I have your name? She said her name was Jessica and that she was the manager. I wanted to speak to Faith about a personal matter concerning the dismal and unsanitary state of her playroom. It is a cesspool of germs. I also wanted to bring something to her attention a potential hazard to children and a lawsuit waiting to happen. Well some people have to learn the hard way.
I am actually surprised at the extent of fantastic reviews. We come here consistently because my son does have a great time in the fun chairs, and the stylists are friendly and do a nice job. However, the play area each time I've been here has been in a disarray to the point of being dangerous. Old, broken toys-- including lots of small pieces, have littered the entire floor of the play area on each trip. I don't think I have seen a staff member cleaning this area, though myself and other mommies can regularly be seen putting things away. The treats are nice-- especially the animal crackers-- as lollipops in flavors like "mystery flavor" always make me cringe. Personally, I also much prefer the books and thomas train to the multitude of tvs blasting animation at us-- but I know this can be part of the draw. The prices seem fairly steep-- to me-- for a quick boy's cut-- but, I admit, are cheaper then taking him to any of the stylists for grownups that I have used. I would be happy to amend my review if the play area were to improve- and do appreciate that most staff seem very friendly and the main part of the shop is fun and welcoming.
The place is cute and kid friendly with toys and fun seats for kids to sit in while they get their hair cut. However, the stylist took her time cutting my son's hair who was already tired and getting fussy. After I felt she had done a fine job I told her I thought it was fine and we were done. She ignored me and continued cutting my now crying and frustrated little boy. I said it two or three more times that I was satisfied with what she had done and she told me "sometimes kids cry, momma." I understand that kids aren't thrilled with getting their hair cut but I also know that I am the paying customer and when I say the service should end, it should end. She ignored my request in addition to being condescending. The haircut was fine but due to the unprofessional nature of the staff, I will never take my child there again nor will I recommend it to others.
