Ida & Co Hair Designs

Are you people serious? You are going to base your view on this absolutely amazing business on one single visit? I personally have had the shellac done at Ida's on more than one occasion and have had no problem at all. I've heard way more good things and have experienced way more good things at this salon than anything bad. This is a hair salon as well, so it's not completely crazy to think the employees would be talking about hair. I just think it's really sad (lefrenchiebabe) that you say you've never had a bad experience there before, but now that you had one you're never going back. Sad... they probably don't want someone like that in there anyways. Seeing as everyone I've came accross at Ida's is extremely friendly, fun, and positive. I HIGHLY recommend Ida's, for any service.
I went here with my mother to get a manicure using their "Shellac" system. This was by far one of the worst manicure experiences I've had. The women who did our manicures were distracted and more interested talking about hair color and other clients then engaging us. The base coat they used was almost completely empty so they had to tip the bottle completely on its side to even get any out, and upon further investigation of my nails when I left, she didn't even paint all the way to the edges of my nails and there were places that she missed altogether. There were air bubbles and fuzz caught in the polish, and less then two days after getting my manicure the "polish" peeled right off- so much for a 14 day manicure. My mother's nails weren't even completely covered. It looked like she got the manicure a week ago because it didn't go all the way to her cuticle and it looked like they had grown out, when in reality they weren't completely done. Yes, they promised that if our manicures didn't last the 14 days that we could go back and have them redone but 1. why should I waste another hour of my time so they can correct a mistake that they can't guarantee won't happen again and 2. if they ran out of the base coat the first time, what makes me think they got more in within a matter of a few days after the first manicure was done. This manicure wasn't worth the original $22.00 let alone the extra $10 it cost me for the "Shellac". Prior to this experience I would have rated Ida's very highly, but due to this experience, I will never go back, especially for a manicure, let alone for Shellac.
The same thing happen to me and I just got them done in May 2012. Looks like no improvement in a years time. Paint started coming off within 24 hours. I do not recommend the "Shellac" system or the manicurists there. Not worth it!!
