Megan... You are right. You did have a terrible experience. There is no excuse for that service you have received this week. Generally common compassion dictates there are reasons for faults. suggestions for any clients who would like to avoid this issue... please have the person taking your phone number repeat the phone number you gave to the business. The reason a business takes a phone number is because there are personal matters that may interfere with business appointments and when it is incorrect or your voicemail is full, it is difficult to call you. Such as this instance. Again, I apologize for any inconvenience this has caused. Also, when a stylist is busy and may run late, these issues may come as a result of clients running behind themselves, and when a stylist has more than 2 in a day things can get a little messy for others down the line. Most stylists, like myself sometimes, need to skip their lunches in order to keep a balance in their day for coming clients. The best I can say to this matter as soon as possible is to say that I am regretfully apologetic for this young woman's experience, and I would invite her to return if she so wished. I would Never hold her comment as invalid or as harsh. She spoke the truth, and I see it as an educational opportunity to address it and even legitimize her moment; sadly not in my chair. And my chair is still open for new clients for future appointments. Thank you. Caren: Amherst Hairstylists
First of all, the service here was terrible. This lady is impossible to get ahold of! I spent two months trying to book an appointment! I called multiple times a week and left many messages with my phone number and she never got back to me. Then when I did finally make an appointment she made me wait 30 minutes before I even got in. Then I made another appointment because I figured I would give her another shot, and I go to my appointment and she already closed even though I was 20 minutes early. She did not even call me to let me know. Such a disappointment. Terrible service, and terrible business etiquette. I would not suggest going to see here. She seems to be fine with the clients she has and clearly has no intentions on expanding her business to new clients. Never going back.
Caren is a very good hairstylist intuitively. She is caring and understanding and she reads my mind very well. When I told her that my Asian hair is quite hard to cut, she immediately assured me that she had tons of experience with Asian hair and she knows exactly the difference and which techniques she should use. I had some doubts when she told me that but my hair turned out great after she cut it so now I'm a believer. Besides when I try to describe what I want, I said I like my hair look young, current but smart, she understood it right away and showed me a picture of my desired hair and I agreed completely. I will definitely come back!!!
I have been to Caren's several times to get waxed and to get a haircut. Both times were great. Caren's a really fun, personable gal who tries to make sure college students like myself can afford a nice haircut and a great wax. I've been waxed a lot of places around the world, and I can honestly say that with Caren it doesn't hurt. She has special stuff that makes the wax only stick to the hair and not the skin, so when she waxes even tough areas (like w/ the brazillian) it doesn't hurt. She's also done my hair and afterwards I received so many compliments. I love her! I left her place the first time as though I had made a new friend because we just talked about everything. I've recommended her place to every woman at Mt Holyoke and my friends adore her. As I pack up to leave the Valley (I graduated), I'm really going to miss the assurance that I could get a great haircut and wax from Caren.
Caren is awesome - authentic, caring, and passionate about her work. My hair is really fine and hard to cut but she gave a perfect cut and Mel did my waxing - very detailed and blowdry and my hair looked perfect without any hair products. Love em!
