Friendly service at a fair price! Due to college not being in session, I was able to walk-in and get a great manicure. My manicurist paid great attention to detail. In addition, staff members were friendly and complimentary. If I am ever in the area, I would definitely go again.
During my gel manicure two of the girls who work there started fighting and yelling at each other in front of myself and another woman getting her feet done. I've never experienced anything like that. Then one of the girls proceeded to the back to talk loudly about it on her cell phone. It was incredibly uncomfortable and awkward. The older woman there was doing my nails and she was nice. However, my gel nails bubbled terribly within an hour of leaving there. The only bright side to everything was that it was only $23 for a soak off and gel manicure, which is pretty cheap. Otherwise, it was pretty bad.
I went here to get my nails done for my wedding. It was the first time I've ever gotten a pedicure/manicure ( it cost $38, not sure if this is considered average or not), but even though I was new to the process the service wasn't good and the nails only lasted an hour or so before chipping. I was told it would take 45 min to an hour, but it took over an hour and a half. The guy that did the manicure/pedicure kept telling me I was his last customer and asking me what time it was, making it clear that he was eager to rush out. He also didn't ask me how I wanted my nails filed (I didn't realize there were different nail "styles") and he filed them in an awkward square shape, which looked stupid since my nails are somewhat short to begin with. When I went to pay, the guy that did my nails was standing there staring at me while I figured out what kind of tip to leave (he wasn't the person at the register either), which made me really uncomfortable. A woman who worked there (possibly the owner) kept saying she had a great gift for me, which turned out to be 5% off "gift certificate." Big deal! An hour later the polish literally started peeling off a couple of my fingers, which I've never seen nail polish do before. I wouldn't recommend this place. My sister had good luck with Lucky's nail salon in Northampton.
The prices are reasonable and they always try to fit me in. They have a nice range of colors to choose from and the place doesn't smell as chemically as a lot of other nail places. I really like the ladies who work at Elegance... they are really friendly and they give great advice for finding good Vietnamese food too! My pedis always last about 3 1/2 weeks and no one would be able to tell the difference that I didn't go to a high-end spa.
