If you love the smell of pot and burnt hair, you're in luck! Go to Alta Moda Sturbridge and without so much as a greeting, you'll be kept waiting as the aroma seeps into your pores, making you nauseous. I made an appointment for a weekday morning, 11:30. I left my name and cell number with my scheduler. When I arrived the day of my appointment at 11:20, there was nobody at reception. The smell of burnt hair products hit me like a freight train. Then I picked up the burnt hair odor under that. I could hear blow dryers and conversation behind the wall (when you walk in, there is a large waiting room and desk, barring view of the work stations). I saw two people sitting, waiting, and so I sat too. I kept picking up on a nasty pot stench every so often. I looked through outdated hair books (c. 1999-2004) for ten minutes and started to pace. I found myself on the other side of the room, facing the opening of the entry to the work stations, when a man came out and asked who I was. I gave my name and appointment time. It was now 11:35. He told me to have a seat. As he walked past, a particular odor wafted after him. He came back out a few minutes later, cashed out his client, hugs and kisses all around, and one of the two people waiting prior to my arrival was told to go to the chair out back. The man then began chatting with the other person waiting, explaining he was running late and asked her if she was in a rush. He walked past me without looking at me. 11:45 I walked behind the wall and told the two men working to cancel my appointment. I was not greeted for ten minutes, there was nobody at the desk. At least I was offered a beverage. That doesn't absolve someone from apologizing for the wait, or perhaps calling me ahead of my appointment to tell me to come later. And the odor! I hope they can keep their smoochy-smoochy clients, because they certainly aren't endearing themselves to new ones with this treatment.
I can honestly say that Gino gave me the best haircut I've had in twenty-five years! The salon was very clean with nice, modern equipment. They use great smelling hair products that work. I'll be going back for certain.
I needed to have my hair colored I had many different colors in my hair some natural and others from a previous time my hair was done. I called in last minute. they got back to me right a way and with in two hours I was sitting in the chair. I had a photo of what I wanted and the stylist did just what I asked. it was nice and cozy. im calling to night to have a touch up. I defiantly recommend altamoda
Last week my daughter had a disastrous color experience at another Sturbridge salon. On her way home she stopped at Altamoda to ask if anyone there could fix her hair on an emergency basis (it was that bad). Sal fit her into his busy schedule (though she had no relationship with this salon) and did a wonderful job of fixing her hair. While I was waiting for her I observed Sal and the other stylists working with their clients and I was extremely impressed with their professionalism and artistry. I give Sal and Altamoda my highest recommendation.
