I began using massage therapy to help me recover from post surgical problems following multiple neck and shoulder surgeries. I have tried over half a dozen therapists, and without a doubt Barbara Van Erp at Alpine Massage is the BEST therapist I have ever used. I have been a client of Barb's for a year now and the results of my therapy sessions with her have been remarkable. My range of motion has significantly improved and the pain level has decreased. Barb is experienced; she is knowledgeable; she discusses my problem areas; she answers my questions in terms I can understand; and she is genuinely concerned with my well-being. I most emphatically recommend her if you are looking any type of massage therapy in the Big Sky area.
I made my first ski trip to Big Sky during this past Presidents week 2/2011. I knew I wanted to have a Thai massage each day after my skiing so I googled and found Barb Van Erp. What attracted me to her was that she provided Thai and traditional massage and would come to my condo. Upon meeting Barb I knew immediately I knew I was in for a treat she has such a warm, inviting and very connnected energy. Then she gave me a Thai massage I thought I was in heaven. I have lower back issues which I discussed with her prior to my trip so she was prepared to deal with my unique aches and pains. Each day we would discuss areas of concern and she customized each session. I NEVER once was sore after a hard day of skiing. For those who have never experienced Thai massage wear loose fitting clothing you lay on a mat while Barb stretches your body in ways you are unable to by yourself and massages you at the same time. It is truely something to experience. You will feel refreshed after a long day! She is a wonderful therapist and person who understands the human body and is sensative to your particular needs. DEFINATELY GIVE HER A RING YOUR IN FOR A TREAT!
In conversation with Barb I learned about Thai massage and was intrigued with the concept. I have had a few different types of massage as I have back issues, but have never had anything like this before. I found it to be enjoyable even as she stretched me in new and interesting ways. I got relief from the tension that seems to persist in my back. When I get regular exercise and Thai massage, it settles down. If I skip it while I am ill for whatever reason, I can tell a difference. If I do my part and Barb treats me, I am pleasantly in balance for being almost sixty and still skiing, biking, and kayaking.
