Raffles Salon
Reviews
I love my Raffles stylist. I used to use the most expensive salon in town but hit on hard times so I could no longer afford it. Then tried "cheap cuts" and was butchered. Finally tried Raffles on a whim. I have been back monthly and am very pleased with the results and price. It feels like family to me.
Not family friendly at all! I knew I should have walked right back out after seeing the staff, but I did not and now I will either have to find someone to fix my son's hair or let him walk around looking like he cut his hair himself!!
Extremely rude staff! I walked to the front counter, and there was not even an acknowledgement of my being there when the salon literally had tumbleweeds blowing through it (no customers AT ALL). Finally, a younger stylist asked me over her computer, "Yes, what do you need?"...... I answered that I needed a simple blunt trim. She then told me, "Go ahead and sign yourself in"....... I was somewhat taken aback because I've never been asked to do that at any salon before. Not even at Great Clips do they make you sign yourself in! Anyway, she seats me at her station and scoffs at the quality of my hair, especially after I explained that I have been growing out my hair for the past two years and this is the first major cut I have had since then. When she commented on how frizzy and curly my hair was, I explained that I was planning on getting it permanently straightened (i.e. Japanese straightening), and old woman from the front of the store (manager maybe?) yells at me, "THERE IS NO SUCH THING AS PERMANENT HAIR STRAIGHTENING". Well, excuse me you old hag, I was not talking to you. I was trying to have a semblance of a conversation with my very cold stylist. The old hag continued to scream this in my direction at least two more times, and I REALLY wanted to walk up to her and personally show her how I could permanently straighten HER hair with some very colorful language. I won't be returning here. My trim was uneven too---she cut it when it was still DRY.
I've only just recently learned my lesson, but I come to Raffles to fix what professional hair salons do to my hair. The ladies here never fail, present precise knowledge in their work, and care about their customers' needs. My hair was ruined at a local salon a few months ago. I had worn my hair up everyday until I finally couldn't take it anymore. My hair was brassy yellow with blunt roots. When I came in they said they wouldn't let me leave until the brass was totally gone (which was relieving). They mixed two separate colors to blend the roots and ends, and overall, did a fantastic job.
