I went to the salon asking for the UV gel nails. They asked me if I wanted the basic acrylic nails and I said no. I know the Gel nails had recently come out and are very popular because they are thinner and look more natural. Because of the language barrier I made sure my nail tech new exactly what I had wanted done and repeated what I had wanted several times. I never had the gel nails done so I didn't know what to expect. First of all when the technician was prepping my nails she didn't bother pushing back or cutting my cuticles. I asked her about it and she said "don't worry we do that last." I was confused but I figured she knew what she was doing so I let her keep going. She then put these long white plastic tips on my nails and I told her "no, I want the UV gel nails not the acrylic." She then said "No acrylic, these are gel." I never had the gel nails done before so I trusted that she knew what she was doing. When she was done I asked simple nail art which I was told was $5 when I had called earlier. The nail tech told me it was $20. I started getting aggravated but at this point my nails were almost done. She kept saying she would shape my nails for me the shape I had wanted but told me she couldn't because they look good as they are. Then when I insisted on it she told me she couldn't because she would have to start all over again. I was so annoyed I just wanted to have the nail art and shaping done somewhere else. I just paid and left. I noticed there was something wrong when I noticed my nails lifting the next day. I was in ny for labor day weekend so I had to wait to go back to the salon and have them fixed. Later that day I noticed that the fake nails were digging into my nail beds. That night my friend (who is a nail tech in ny) sent me a video of how the UV gel process works and what theyre supposed to look like afterwards. They looked nothing like my nails. The exact opposite. In comparison my nails were chunky, thick, and uneven. The next morning was when I realized my fake nails turning yellow. I got worried and went to a doctor to see what was wrong. She said I had a bacterial infection from my nails lifting and water being trapped underneath. I paid $65 dollars for acrylic nails (when I asked for UV gel nails) and a bacterial infection!!!! I immediately called the salon and a man picked up the phone telling me that I couldn't have my money back and that I had to pay $10 dollars to have the nails I never wanted in the first place removed. When I demanded my money back after telling him what happened he told me I didn't know what I was talking about AND HUNG UP ON ME!!! I went to another salon to get them removed safely so I could treat the infection. I was told that the nails only lift when they are done the wrong way and the person who did mine obviously didn't know what they were doing. I was very upset at this point. After having that awful experience I visited alexia's because I found a site named "10 questions you should ask before trusting a salon with your nails." I spoke to the same man who previously hung up the phone on me and now claimed to be the manager. After further investigation I had learned that none of the nail technicians that work there a licensed! The man said, "They know what they do, they don't need license to do nails!" He yelled at me and at that point I left. Even though this salon may look clean, it doesn't mean they are clean. These people aren't licensed and don't know what they're doing. This is the worst experience of life! These people are running a scam and don't care about their customers. They only care about themselves. I WOULDN'T RECOMMEND THIS PLACE TO MY WORST ENEMY!!!! DON'T RISK IT!!! Please make sure you ask plenty of questions and do your research when getting your nails done. I wish I did...
