Awesome service. Extremely satisfied with my hair. Would recommend to friends and family.
I am a young college student and i was looking for a credible salon to dye my hair and cut it. I found New Leaf Salon and made my appointment. As I arrived i waited for 40 minutes after my scheduled appointment. When it was finally time to get my hair done I asked if they could lighten it. The hair dresser took it into her own hands and decided to give me highlights with 'auburn tints"...so I let her do her thing, thinking she was a professional. After I was foiled and washed, my hair was bright pink. She gave me bright pink highlights. My scalpe was bright bring from the dye too! She insisted that my hair wasnt going to turn out pink, that it was just the dye still in my scalp. I knew this was not what I wanted, but she insisted that what she did was correct. So I paid $150 and went back to school. At school i washed my hair three times, in tears. My hair was pink.! Gold and salmon covered my head. It was a disaster! I ended up buying boxed hair dye and dyed it all black to cover it up the next day. Thank you for nothing New Leaf Salon. I will NEVER be returning and I will make sure to tell this story to everyone I know.
I went to New Leaf for the first time on a recommendation and before my appointment I was impressed with reviews and the information available on their very streamlined website. At my appointment I did not have a difficult time explaining to Jennifer the stylist, that I wanted a partial foil and trim. About 15 minutes into the foil, another staff person approached Jennifer to say that she had a walk in appointment. Staff continued to remind Jennifer of this customer (who, as a walk in, did not have a scheduled appointment) to the point that she was clearly feeling rushed through the next 30 minutes of foiling my hair. She then explained to me that this walk in haircut would take 45 minutes, so the color would be sitting on my hair slightly longer than usual. I was then left to sit with hair color chemicals on my hair for over an hour and a half, when I would normally "process" for less than 30 minutes. Jenn had assured me beforehand that it wouldn't damage my hair, which thankfully it did not appear to. She then proceeded to cut my hair, and was immediately interrupted to be notified that her next scheduled appointment had arrived. All in all services that normally take 2-2.5 hours took over 4, and my entire experience was peppered with worrying that my stylist was rushing and being annoyed at the persistence of interruptions. In the end, the cut and color were good, and I will probably return to see Jennifer if I can be assured that my scheduled appointment will take place in a normal amount of time, and walk ins will only take place if not at my expense, as a customer who booked ahead. Update: after posting the inital review, I did contact New Leaf to provide feedback. The person with whom I spoke welcomed the feedback about scheduling, and assured me that the appointment should not have taken as long as it did, and that my experience was not typical to the salon. She advised that the next time I booked (if I chose to) I could request to be booked "straight through" to avoid the situation in the future. She also offered a modest discount if I returned for services, which is a gesture I appreciated. I have not yet decided if I will give it another go at New Leaf, but I did appreciate the customer service after my appointment.
This salon is so... hectic. They clearly have too much going on and not staff to handle it all. It's so busy w/ all the clothes, flip flops, earrings, etc etc they are selling - crazy! Scheduling is a nightmare and owner is not so friendly.
