Spa In The City

I scheduled an appointment for my birthday to get my hair cut for Locks of Love and get it curled. I called several different places to find one close to my house and make sure I fully understood pricing because I was on a budget. The receptionist was very friendly and told me that there should be no charge for my appointment because I was doing Locks of Love. I asked her if she was sure and if I was to be charged what would be the highest cost. She quoted me a price it would be at the most. When I got there, the woman who was to cut my hair was rude, and asked if I was aware that her prices were by the hour and to do my hair it would be at least triple what the receptionist had quoted me. I started to cry saying that no, I was not aware of that because that was not what I had been told and my party was in three hours and I did not have time to book elsewhere. She proceeded to argue what the receptionist should have told me. I informed her what I was actually told and that she was incorrect. She told me she would go talk with her manager. At the end, she ended up saying she could charge me 20% less than her usual fee because I was under the wrong impression for pricing. I told her I did not need my hair done that badly. I would just blow dry it myself. She did the Locks of Love cut, me still crying on my birthday and I left a very unsatisfied customer. Do you think the manager even came to speak with me? NO! I will NEVER, EVER go back there again. What a horrible place. Could not even get the manager to come and talk to me. I think she just did not want to do my hair because the cut was free for Locks of Love.
I would say the people are great! I have had my hair done and one facial done here. Tina is the best when it comes to hair. So I wanted to try getting my waxing done here as well. It started off that I told her about my skin type and talked about the types of wax that would work best. She recommended sugar wax. I have never had that done so why not. She did a ok just got most of it. gave me a amazing product for ingrown hairs. Sent me on my way. Ok just an average visit. She had told me that with sugaring you get less grow back and will take longer to grow back. Well lets just say that didn't happen but figured it was my first time. So I tried again. This time we went threw the sugaring again. she said I had some breakage. Well this time she missed a few spots and I asked her to get them. She said she couldn't see anything. Well I wasn't happy! I got my hair done by the amazing Tina and left happy with my hair not with the performance of the wax. I would recommend a lot at the spa in the city just don't do the sugar waxing. Safe to say I will go somewhere else for waxing. My rating is on the waxing experience not the spa as a whole
This is not just a review, but also a warning to potential and current clients, do not get to attached to those providing your service… I started using Spa in the City a little over 2 years ago. I have been happy with all the services I have received including lash extensions, sugaring, nails and hair. As a loyal customer and professional manager myself, I never asked why or even cared when employees would leave…none of my business. And when my hair stylist left, I still continued to use the spa for my nails, coming in about once every three weeks. Never an issue or complaint until today! I had an appointment for a hair cut and color with my usual stylist, who had left Spa in the City and is now working at a new salon. I received a call today that my appointment would have to be either canceled or rescheduled with a different stylist as I am on a list provided by the ownership of Spa in the City and I am apparently their property and their client and cannot see the stylist I want due to her past relationship with Spa in the City! Now I am perfectly aware of “no compete clause’s” and have found that they usually involve the employer and former employee, not the client, and generally affect the area the former employee can work and carry an expiration date. So I mentioned this during my phone conversation and was told this was not the case here. For my situation Spa in the City felt that I was their client, not my stylist and that no there is no expiration date, basically in effect until Spa in the City closes! Now any of you out there who have struggled to find the perfect hair stylist will understand my frustration. It is not easy to find someone who actually listens to what you the client wants, then matches that with great skills to make the magic happen so that your hair actually looks good! And now due to the actions of Spa in the City I have to start this search all over again! And now on top of it I need to find a new nail tech, because I can guarantee that I will never go back to Spa in the City for ANY SERVICE WHAT SO EVER!!! So if the ownership of Spa in the City thought this was a good way to win back my business with their new hair stylist, they were very mistaken. I can only hope that I am not the only angry client of Spa in the City’s over this issue and that we will all stop using any of the services the Spa offers, and Spa in the City will be forced to close! And on that day I will return to my preferred hair stylist and my hair will look amazing when she is done!
I've been going here for a whole year for my brazilian wax. I've went through about 4 or more aestheticians and the last one who's working with me is Tammy. Tammy is awesome, friendly and she helped me switch over to sugaring vs wax. I have had 2 other professionals before try to sugar me and it took an hour and it was very painful. Tammy is really skilled because it hurts only as much as any quality wax but the sugar is more healthy for me and last time for my maint. it took only 20 min :D. I think the service price is a little high by about $20, I've had it done in SC, La, VA an FL but WA state is in general pricier so compared to all other salons it's a great deal. *Directions* First times there I got lost, so if you're exiting from I-5 N, don't take a left on Burley Dr. take the next road on the left right after the gas station and drive all the way to the back of the shops.
I had a girl named Aly spray tan me! She was so professional, nice and sweet. She showed me the whole salon. I just really enjoyed myself, the girls are classy and down to earth and care about their customers. The Airbrush tan turned out amazing sense I hate mystic/versa spas. Amazing amazing job! The only thing I have is the pricing of the tans. I wish you guys had tanning packages so I could start coming to you guys weekly without breaking my bank for tan, but I heard that could possibly happen in the future so PLEASE get those tanning pacakges. But other than that, the pricing is pretty good for other things and the SPA IS SO SO SO CUTE AND CLEAN!! LOVE THIS PLACE!
