Carolyne's Salon
Reviews
Went to Marlayna just to have my roots touched up. I have blonde hair and my roots had grown out after 5 weeks. Basically just wanted to chase away that dark stripe on top of my head. Instead, I ended up with roots that were DARKER than when I arrived. Spoke to the woman back home who has been coloring my hair for almost 18 years and she said Marlayna had used way too dark a blonde for my base color. Nothing I could do...you can't put a lighter tint on a tint. Have to wait for it to grow out. All I could do at this point was to have highlights with bleach to break it up. Not at all what I wanted. Just went in for an easy touch up and ended up leaving with this awful brown hair color on my scalp. Cried when I got to my car. I wouldn't have felt as awful if she had just apologized and said how sorry she was for choosing too dark a base color for me. For a stylist that the salon claimed was a color specialist with over 12 years experience this never should have happened.
The salon is clean and quite busy. The stylists are independent contractors so my rating is actually for my stylist, Rodney. He is one of the few colorists in the area who actually take the time to properly do color. I don't look like I have zebra stripes when I leave- I have natural looking high and low-lights. He takes his time and it is well worth it. If I were to move I'd consider returning here for hair appointments.
I've gone here for years to the same stylist, so it shocks me each time I see Carolyne and she acts as if she has never laid eyes on me before. She's a bit of a moody snob. If I didn't like my stylist so much I'd find somewhere else to go. The one star is for Carolyne's bad attitude that is most likely due to an inferiority complex. Drop the attitude--you only run a hair salon!
