Young Michael there is EXCELLENT - and gives a GREAT Straight Razor Shave on top of a precision haircut!
With "barbers" becoming more difficult to find each passing year, King's is a classic barbershop (not a "salon") where one can get a "haircut" as God intended, including straight razor shaving of the neck, and the unforgettable aromas of talcum powder and witch hazel. It is a 6-chair shop with most chairs operating at any given time. It is clean, well kept, and the kind of place sons of fathers will bring sons of their own some day. This is a "guys place", with a ballgame on the TV, some great Chicago sports memoribilia and classic newspaper headlines on the wall. It is as much a place to listen to the local goings-on while waiting, and discuss sports, politics, and the happenings of the day as a social center unto itself. This is not where one would go for the latest in trendiest hairstyles... it's where you go to get your haircut as you like it, and as you're used to. Prices are very reasonable and deliver great value for money. Barbershops like King's are a vanishing commodity that we will all miss when they'll eventually be lost to time. There may very well be a place in this world for Vidal Sassoon, Jose Ebert, and Jonathan Antin, but you won't find them here. You'll find "Floyd the barber...", who may not representt the cutting edge of hair science, but who is an invaluable and irreplaceable community member... and a place every father and son should experience together. Americana at it's near finest.
