I have been going to the Village Salon, specifically Melissa, for over 10 years. I refuse to go anywhere else. Karen has done a WONDERFUL job building the business, hiring top of the line staff and decorating the interior, not to mention keeping the place immaculate. I went to Village Salon after getting a horrible color job from a Flemington, NJ salon. Melissa took her time and over the course of a few visits she was able to return my hair color to a normal blonde shade (that matched my skin tone) without chopping everything or totally damaging my hair. Over the past 10 years Melissa not only listens to what I would like to do with my hair - color and cut, no matter how drastic - but also knows the history of what I like/dislike and always takes her time in changing the style and color. I have been platinum blonde, to dirty blonde, back to blonde. Melissa helped me pick out and color match my first set of extensions. I have always loved long blonde hair, but recently decided to make a change to shorter hair so make my hair more even in length. Melissa once again worked her magic and made me feel comfortable by NOT chopping off 8 inches of hair right away. She took a few inches off, show me and ask how I felt. She did not rush me even though it took a few rounds of doing this until I was completely satisfied with the cut. I 1000% recommend Village Salon to anyone and everyone who cares about their hair.

I visited the salon yesterday with my 11 year old daughter to get her hair cut. After I walked with her to the back of the salon to a chair, I was told I could not stay and watch her get her hair cut. I was told I had to wait for her in the lobby. I was outraged that I could not sit there (or stand) and watch. I have been going to salons with my children for over 20 years and was never, ever told I could not stay with them. I should have left then and there, but I did what I was told and went to the lobby. It is an outrageous rule and therefore I will never go back. Too bad because with a family of 5, 2 of which regularly color their hair, and with all the facials I get I will most definetly take my business elsewhere. We are new to the community and was hoping to build a relationship with this salon.

I have very curly hair and heard about a salon in NYC called Ouidad but couldn't afford their $200.00 hair cuts! So I found the Village Salon that specializes in Curly hair and the Deva products for curly hair. The cuts are anywhere from $90 - $125.00, much more than I ever spent, but well worth it! The first appointment, I spent almost two hours there! The Stylist really analyzed my hair, cut it dry, washed it, cut it some more, conditioned it...etc! Since I only need to cut it twice a year, it's well worth it! The staff was welcoming and very patient with all of my questions!

I decided to go to the Village Salon after driving by it and noticing it looked nice from the outside. I needed a trim done using the razor technique so I called and requested one of their creative stylists who can do a razor cut. They put me with Amanda. As I was explaining what I wanted done, a simple trim and shape it back into an inverted bob, she seemed to understand what I wanted. Then she took out a regular pair of cutting shears and proceeded to cut at least an inch off. I was shocked. I definitely did not ask for an inch to be cut off. When she washed my hair she got my face and back wet and I've never had anyone literally wash my face. After she cut my hair in the strangest ways I had ever seen I was so upset. I noticed my hair was not even, it was not the cut I asked for, she took way more off than I requested. I was so upset. I tried calling the owner and it took two days until I could finally get someone on the phone to speak to. He made it seem like it was my fault that the cut went wrong and that if I want a razor treatment I shouldn't ask for the cheapest person. I told him no one suggested I go for a different level but yet he still made it into my fault. The owner fixed my hair but she couldn't remember my name (she called me 4 different names in 4 different occasions), she bragged about her skills the entire time and proceeded to give Amanda a lesson on haircutting while cutting my hair. Extremely awkward. I would not recommend this salon to anyone.

I just went to a Janis Ian concert (At Seventeen)....and she said to me, "I LOVE your hair!" A curly-girl bonding moment--thanks to the Deva cut Karen created - true artistry! If you want curly done right - Karen is can make it happen! It is expensive, but so worth it!
