I've been going to Mark for my haircuts since he opened his Red Bank salon. His haircuts are so good that the shape lasts through many months. Before I went to him, I would go to NYC for a decent haircut, which costs a lot in time and money. Although Mark charges a reasonably high price, the amount of time and care he spends on each customer makes it worthwhile for people who value a high esthetic and low maintenance look. Some folks on this page have complained about Mark's management style. I guess they prefer a folksy feel-good atmosphere to a great haircut. Mark is a stylist of the highest level. He doesn't ever exercise his "temperament" on his clientele, and has always been totally gracious in my presence.
The special care and attention that Mark gives to his clients is extraordinary . I have being having my hair cut by Mark for almost 20 years . He is a true professional , NY trained and a dry -cut expert . Few salons in New Jersey offer the dry cut . It is a process akin to sculpture rather than cutting. Mark has an artistic eye, which he applies to each individual who becomes his client . His results are amazing and your hair will be easy to maintain. I highly recommend his services .
Mark is Unprofessional/Nasty/Rude/Arrogant. He thinks hes the best at what he does and his sh*t dont stink. Hes terrible! I reccommend everyone to NOT go to his salon. There are so many different salons in that area that are so much nicer. Granted its a beautiful salon, but thats all he has going. He's rude to his co-workers infront of clients, he always runs behind on time, he never pays direct attention to his client, hes not friendly, and hes too focused on what everyone else is doing rather than his haircut. There have been soo many employees in and out of that salon that im sure all the other clients notice it.
Be ready to stay a while, this is not your typical salon where you're rushed out the door because the next client is waiting. I've know the owner for about 6 years now and he keeps a very professional "city" style atmosphere. Due to business-travel I had to have a hair cut or two in between at a different salon and that was something to regret. No matter what I keep coming back... I can go on about 6 months before I need a cut. It may seem pricy to some people but when you only need to come in twice a year is worth it.
