Last September my boyfriend took me here for a Duet Massage and it was amazing. Staff were friendly. The people who worked the desk were so helpful, my boy friend and I never went to a spa at that point, so we asked what is the recommended tip, and they explained and showed us where to get our robes, and where to lock up our stuff. When my boyfriend called to make an appointment they were very helpful as well. It was so relaxing, there was a middle room that had tea, and we were given a mini questionnaire asking us questions such as what were we interested in to get out of the massage, pleasure, health, etc. and also if we had to avoid certain chemicals in lotions. Everything smelled so nicely and not over powering, and I'm pretty sensitive to smells. I can't recommend this place enough!

I visited the Woodhouse for the first time after my boyfriend gave me a gift certificate there for Valentine's Day. I booked online (which was quite easy) for an 80-minute deep-tissue massage & arrived half an hour early, as instructed. The crux of my review is this: The massage was excellent. My massage therapist, Olga, was friendly & kind, asking a lot of questions ("How's the pressure?" "Does that feel OK?" etc.) throughout to make sure the experience was a good one. I explained to her that I have some nerve damage from an old surgery & that I carry my tension in my neck, & she tended carefully to those areas. At times, she explained to me exactly what muscle she was working on so that I could learn more about what works to make me feel better. Of course, she tried to upsell me by telling me I needed to get a massage every two weeks. Who wouldn't love to get a massage twice a month? Unfortunately, if I did that, my life would be nothing but massages & Ramen noodles; $400 a month in massage hardly leaves room for anything else. Though Olga was excellent, I have to dock a star for the friendliness (or lack thereof) of the front desk staff. The woman working the front when I came in was quite reserved bordering on unfriendly, which felt surprising for a spa; typically, spa greeters are warm to the point of effusive, welcoming new guests, in particular, & trying to make an overall positive impression. This woman couldn't be bothered to smile or to even pretend like she gave a damn about the client experience. She walked me into the changing area, muttered some muddled instructions, & left without ever cracking a smile. A different woman was working the front desk when I left, & I was blown away to find her equally cold. I'm a friendly, jokey person, & I was willing to give employee #2 the benefit of the doubt (as I'd initially done for employee #1), but she, too, couldn't be bothered to display even a modicum of personality or warmth. She was polite in a way that feels unpleasant & forced, like she couldn't wait for me to be out of the room. When I handed her my gift card, I told her I wasn't sure how much was on it, & yet she ran it without telling me that OR the cost of my massage. When I asked how much my service came to, she just told me, "Your card covered it," which of course didn't help me determine how much to tip my massage therapist, so I had to ask again - awkward. Honestly, I was glad to get out of there & not have to deal with the stuck-up desk staff anymore. My massage was absolutely worth five stars. But my overall experience, unfortunately, was not.

My wife place her necklace in her robe during a massage. Shortly after leaving, within a half hour, she realized that she had forgotten her necklace. She immediately called the spa and was told "the laundry was already done, too bad". Since then, no one has called to update her, to apologize, or to simply reach out for the sake of good customer service. If you value your time, money, or valuables, DO NOT UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCE go to The Woodhouse Day Spa.

Christmas morning imagine a 33 year old, dashing gentleman in a one-sie opening up his presents around the tree. Present after present bringing him joy, but wait! What's inside his stocking? All the way in the bottom of his stocking, he jumps for joy after receiving a Woodhouse Day Spa gift certificate. He calls them, even without seeing what he received, but unfortunately they were closed. He calls the next day, still being very excited for receiving this wonderful gift certificate. Someone picks up the phone! But then, he was placed on hold. He was waiting on hold for 10 minutes. A lady comes back on, and asks him if he can call back, because they were very busy booking appointments. He briefly explained to them what type of package he received, and they said yes, we have appointments open. He calls them back the next day, and was told that with his package it could not be individual sessions, and because of that factor, they have no appointments for him until the new year. He had asked to speak to a manager, because that was never explained to him the previous day. They advised him, that there was no management on duty that day and that someone will kindly get back to him tomorrow. Tomorrow came, but he didn't hear anything from Woodhouse Day Spa. So he calls them, Melissa answers the phone, he requests to speak to a manager very kindly, and Melissa responds, "YOU CAN SPEAK TO ME." Melissa never identified herself as a manager until he had asked her, "Are you the manager?" And she replied with a smirk "Yes, I'm the manager." He started to explain the situation to her. She reply's coldly, "We have been booked for months." I then explained to her that when the gift certificate was purchased on Christmas Eve, the purchaser had asked them if that had any open appointments before the new year, and was told, "Yes." This is why the purchaser had purchased the Woodhouse Day Spa gift certificate for him. So he then asked Melissa, if he could return the gift certificate. due to the fact that it seems like they just wanted to sell gift certificates, Under false pretenses. She advised that the owner was currently on vacation and there was no other management. So that excitement that he had to go visit another local business was crushed. As he, himself, is a local business owner, knows the importance of supporting another local business during these rough times. Within the beauty business, being on top of trends and having outstanding customer service, is extremely important to succeed in these times. If that even means changing times, opening early, closing later, you do everything you need to do to make your customers happy. Sadly, Woodhouse Day Spa failed in every aspect. Now you know, he won't be spreading the word of the Woodhouse Day Spa when he attends New York's Mayor Michael Bloomberg's New Year's Eve lavish bash!
