Serendipity Salon and Spa
Reviews
I have been going to spas once a month for a very long time. With my work travel I have been in spas all over the world. I use Serendipity for facials and massages - I have not tried out the other services. Serendipity is perfect - reasonable prices and great service. Very relaxing and thorough facials and wonderful massages! I live in Albany but drive to Schenectady because it is a perfect balance of service and price.
I purchased two Groupons for eye lash extensions, a gift and one for myself. I arrived there on time and filled out my paper work. I had to wait about 25 minutes for my appointment. Diane was not repaired. She talked through the whole process. She kept sayin “ oh, they look so nice , you’re going to love them”. My eyes burned and it was extremely painful. Diane told me it was because she opened a new glue and it must be strong. After, my eyes were somewhat clear I attempted to look at them. I had one eye GLUED SHUT. Diane attempted to pull them after told it hurt and to stop she gets baby oil and a paper towel. Particles of the paper towel get stock in my eye lashes. Finally, being able to look at my lashes, they LOOK TERRIBLE. I call and speak to manager she offers me a refund. Furthermore, she told me that this has happened before. She then told me she cannot refund me because Groupon will not allow it. Overall, the experience was terrible. I WOULDNOT RECOMMENDED THIS PLACE FOR EYELASHES. IT IS NOT ABOUT THE REFUND ITS ABOUT THE FACT THERE IS A STAFF WHO IS ATTEMPTING TO PROVIDE A SERVICE AND CAN NOT DO IT WELL AT ALL. YOU GO IN FOR EYELASH EXTENTIONS AND COME OUT WITH RED, BURNING EYES AND CAN BARELY DRIVE YOUR SELF HOME.
I have been going to Serendipity since it has opened and have followed Diane when she has moved. I find her work to be excellent and all the staff is very caring and concerned about their clients. Kelly gives the best facials. I find it hard to believe these comments as I have known the staff for many years.
Had a Groupon. Was warned to never go to a place that offers Groupon's for these sort of services but figured it could be fun. (eyelash extensions) Making the appointment was very pleasant. They are friendly on the phone. Arrived and still, very friendly...and then she brought me into a tiny room, one that you can reach across and touch on both sides, or just about. Didn't talk to me at all, just lied me down and got to work. I had to keep my eyes closed for about 45 minutes during the procedure but I just couldn't relax because there was a little girls party being set up right outside my door. My eyes were stuck together, so she dried them some more. I have never had eyelash extensions put on and had no idea what to expect. When she showed me them, they looked pretty, but the one eye didn't feel right. 3 days later I was so miserable so I started reading up on this. And everything on the internet that said could happen if you had a bad stylist..did. They were gooped together and heavy and my eyes were very uncomfortable. I had to then go and have them fixed. Which ended up costing me another $100. The new ones are perfect and the lady who "redid" them couldn't believe the mess that was on my eyes. She asked to take pictures of them. (The room at the new lady's salon was in a quiet room with a big comfy bed and soft Zen like music playing and what a difference) So, I do not recommend getting your eyelashes done with Olivia from Serendipity. Gosh, I hate saying that about anyone but these were pretty horrible. :( Thanks for listening.
I went to Serendipity twice because I bought two Living Social Deals. Firstly, I went for a facial -- the entire time the woman was talking on and on and I wasn't able to relax at all. Furthermore, she suggested that with my slight acne I should go on some medication that her nephew went on, hello?? you're not a doctor! If that wasn't bad enough she was extremely pushy with products and booking another appointment-- no thanks! Unfortunately I had to go back since I had already bought a manicure/pedicure for my friend and I. The day of the appointment (the day of a formal event I was going to) I get a call that the manicurist is sick and that I need to reschedule! I was really upset and she was able to call someone in who honestly did not even seemed trained. My nails were gloppy and awful and I paid wayyy more than necessary. I absolutely will not return.
