Philip Pelusi

Well I'm a blonde and I dread going to salons simply because they always seem to act like I am the most horrible person for the condition of my hair. It is very coarse and bleached-I get it. But that's why I'm at the salon-to have someone help me fix it. I asked for my blonde to be brightened-the manager told me it would fall of and it looks fine (it is not fine-it is very brassy and dull) I also asked for highlights-again I was told my hair would fall of. So then I just asked for layers. She told me I can't choose really what kind of layers I want in my hair because it is so damaged. So basically everything I asked for got shot down. I understand that they have to be careful, but I'm signing a waiver anyways so do what I ask for. I have been doing hair for ten years and I have never ever had mine or anyone's hair fall out from coloring it blonde. Yes you have to be careful, but if you are careful it should be fine! How do they think blondes keep their blonde???? Well anyways, I noticed a girl with a really pretty balayage-type of hair color which I could settle with since there was no way they were doing what I wanted-what I was PAYING them for. So instead of a really pretty balayage fade-I got BLACK roots......solid BLACK. It looked like I hadn't dyed my hair for 6 months. And they literally let me walk out like that. I didn't want to hurt the girls feelings that did it because she was new but seriously? How do you go from blonde highlights to terrible black roots? And I had to pay for it still. Apparently the manager was upset when I left and the girl that did my hair was crying. I understand mistakes but I avoided salons since the last time I went over ten years ago and they butchered my hair. I figured Philip Pelusi was the best! I heard so many great things about them and boy was I disappointed. I'm sure it was just the stylist that I had being new and nervous and all of the other girls seemed to do fantastic jobs and knock it out of the park, but I guess that's just my luck. If you go here-get someone that's been here for years and knows what they are doing and don't be sensitive about your hair because boy will they be sure to call you out on every issue. Plus side-shampoo was nice and so was the hand massage. The girl working the front desk was very sweet and helpful. Very clean salon.
Firstly, I myself am a licensed hairdresser, but I have not worked in a salon for quite some time. I have a terrible fear of a bad haircut, because I know that they do happen and that its usually because of a lack of communication. I also know how hard it can be to make a client feel comfortable and confident when they are in your chair. With that said, Amelia is absolutely the best! When booking my appointment I was sure to tell the receptionist that I was looking for a big change and that she would need extra time with me. Amelia was right there, ready for me when I walked in. I had hair that was about 5 inches past my shoulders and a collage of textured bobs. I showed this to her, and she said that's exactly what I was hoping you would ask for! She already knew. Her shampoo experience is wonderful and relaxing. During the haircut she was sure to ask questions and reassure that there will be more texture added at the end. I told her to just do what she does, and I really couldn't have dreamed of a better final result! She took all the main objectives I pointed out like "not super a-line" "very textured" and "soft bangs" and made it work for me, my hair's texture and my face shape. I am so, so happy with my haircut I might have squealed a little when I got to the car! The salon is beautiful and well kept. Prebooking my next appointment was easy and ensures that my hair will continue to look wonderful through the year. Thanks, Amelia!
This is by far the best salon in the area! I have tried out quite a few other places! Every one there is very knowledgeable & friendly. My hair looks amazing every time. They are THE color experts!!
