I first started tanning at Shelley's, simply because her salon was the closest. With Valpack coupons, I tried other salons like Desert Sun and L.A. Tan to see what was out there, but I kept going back to Shelley's, and here's why. 1) Price: Shelley charges by the minute, which is great if you're fair-skinned like I am and don't like to pay through the nose "by the session" like many salons do. 2) Knowledge and Friendliness: Shelley taught me about the importance of blocking, which is how to cover faster-tanning areas with towels for half the time, resulting in no burning and an even tan. When I asked employees at other places about blocking, even explaining it to them, they didn't know what I was talking about. After tanning just a few times, Shelley remembered my name, and already checked me in between the time I went through the front door, and the time it took me to get to her front counter. 3) Bed Maintenance: In five years of tanning there, I NEVER ONCE saw a burnt out bulb. I asked her why and how the beds are so well-maintained. She explained that because she charges based on the bed's usage instead of "giving her beds away by having unlimited memberships," she can afford to replace the bulbs when they're at 90% output, instead of waiting 'til they're burnt out like the membership-based salons I went to. Though I have moved to California, I make sure to tan at Shelley's when I go home to visit family, because it's a nice treat. Shelley and her husband are a rare breed in the industry who truly care about their business and their clients. Though I have found other places to tan, I have never found another salon with the quality and customer care of Shelley's.

I have been going here for years and will continue to go. They take great care of their tanning bed and customers. I recieve the best customer service here unlike many places I go and get ignored for the first 5 to 10 minutes of walking in. They take the time to go over all the details to make sure you get the best experience. They match your skin type, tan desire, and timeframe up to the tanning beds that would fit you best. They don't just sell you a tan and toss you in. They have so many beds that I haven't had a problem getting in. They are always clean and you know this because the plastic wrap or fresh sheet that covers their beds. I have also had many massages by their wonderful massage gals and wont go anywhere else. They beauticians are mircle workers, my hair is crazy and they have been the only ones that have done it and I instantly love it. I can't say I have walked out of a salon and actually like my hair unless one of Shelley's gals have done it.
