Salon Boulay
Reviews
I have been going to Salon Boulay for years now and wouldn't go anywhere else. It is hard to find a good men's haircut with my difficult, curly hair. Don't tell anyone but I even get it colored sometimes to cover up the grays. Lucille does an excellent job and I always enjoy my time there.
Nicole did an awesome job on my Brazilian blowout!! I was really skeptical just because I've done so many relaxers but this was different! I have mixed thick curly frizzy hair, and I'm used to being able to get my hair super straight but it takes from wet to dry about 2 hours between blow drying and flat ironing. So I knew the real test was going to be styling at home on my own...well I'm super excited to say I went from super wet hair to dry, straight, and having some body in 10 mins with just a blow dryer and paddle brush!!! Nicole was super friendly, explained the process to me, and made sure that I knew how to take care of my hair afterwards!! I would HIGHLY recommend Salon Boulay to anyone in the area considering a Brazilian blowout or just a haircut, which also turned out awesome :) I'll can't wait to go back and have already been recommending you guys to a bunch of friends!
I had okay service and the ladies were very nice. However, the overall experience was sub-par. My highlights ended up being fine, but I certainly didn't feel gorgeous when I left, like I usually do after getting my hair colored. When they asked me if I wanted to have a foot soak, I of course said, "yes." I was disappointed by the food soak for two main reasons. First, I was asked to take a survey that included questions that were slightly awkward to answer, such as what types of medications I am on. Secondly, my feet sat in water that cooled to an uncomfortable temperature for 40 minutes. This was the time that it took for my hair to process and the entire process of having my hair colored (NOT cut) took three hours. Another issue that I had is their little dog. I love animals, but I will be the first to admit that I can't stand little yippy dogs, which their "mascot" Jasper is. While attempting to relax during my lukewarm foot soak, apparently someone walked by the salon and the dog began yipping like crazy, literally making me jump! Needless to say, I was slightly on edge when I got home so late that I wasn't able to say goodnight to my son and didn't feel as pretty as I would have liked, all the while spending almost as much money as I would have at another, more professional, establishment.
I wanted to start out by letting "S" know that had you gone back to Salon Boulay or let them know you were disappointed, I'm certain they would have been happy to fix your hair. You could've saved yourself the extra $125 and went back to let them know what happened. Anyway, I post this at the risk of others discovering how fabulous this place is, and thus making it harder to get in for my appointments! This cute little salon deserves to be recognized and recommended. I've been going to Salon Boulay for a few years now and have not considered going anywhere else. I've also made my mom into a regular customer! Nicole and Lucille are the best. This is an intimate two-chair boutique salon in downtown Puyallup, decorated adorably by Lucille...so cozy and comfortable! Along with color treatments, they offer you either a foot soak or a paraffin hand treatment while you wait in the cozy armchairs, where you can read a magazine, enjoy some tea and great conversation. I see Nicole and trust her 100% with my hair and any suggestions or recommendations as well...and I always seem to leave in a great mood and look forward to my next visit. I really can't say enough great things about this place. This is the place to go for excellent and friendly service, relaxing atmosphere, reasonable prices, and stunning results!
The person who did my hair had to right off the bat ask for advice from who I am assuming is the manager/owner. They did not have the color I wanted and the girl also didn't do the highlights the way I wanted. She also fried my hair. I had to go a week later somewhere else to have my hair fixed because my hair was such a mess. There were highlights that were completely missed and still stripped along with 3 different shades and the back of my hair was never completely covered. I wound up paying Salon Boulay $125 and another $125 to get it fixed elsewhere. I have never had such a bad dye/highlight job in my life which is a shame.
