The Barbershop Lounge
Reviews
This place is a little tricky to find and is easily walked past as it is a basement level barbershop. The front desk staff are polite and courteous and offer a beverage upon arrival. It basically is like walking in to a lounge bar with leather seats, pool table and all the trimmings [sic]. Aesthetics aside, the haircut I received was somewhat haphazard, sub par and lazily performed. I got home to discover on closer inspection my sideburns were uneven and the gradient of my hair was all over the place. In someways it did live up to my expectation of the barbers (as opposed to stylists) that used to randomly hack at my hair when i was a child. Not recommended.
Most of the stylists here are experienced and can cut men's hair. Haircuts are pricey, but done correctly and professionally. Results won't look like your mom still cuts your hair, or hacked off after going to Cost Cutters. They also offer a maintenance cut which is just a cleanup (neck, sideburns, behind the ears). I have been a customer for over a year and would trust them with a haircut before a big day - wedding, holiday, interview, etc. The staff & receptionists are very polite and accommodating.
A good place for a haircut is surprisingly hard to find in Boston, but this place will not let you down. I always leave here happy and glad I paid the extra amount for a real barber.
Clean and a great hair cut.
