I just moved to Hyattsville from Silver Spring, so I had frequented the Friendly Faces in Wheaton Mall before. I have visited this shop four times, and been serviced by three barbers. My first visit was good. My second visit with the same barber was not consistent.. he cut too much off, even though I said i just wanted a beard shape up. I chose a different barber on the third visit, good cut this time as well. My fourth visit, I told the gentleman I wanted to "keep it [my beard] as wide as possible" and he concurred that he understood that I just wanted him to tidy up from my last cut. He asked me about lining under my chin, and I demonstrated to him to trim the edge that was visible from the last barber. He then proceeds to cut half of my mustache off to a pencil thin width! He cut an inch off under my chin, and more than 1/2 an inch off my cheek! THAT IS NOT A SHAPE UP, THAT IS A STYLE! I was real clear about what I wanted. That mustache is going to look crazy growing back in. I have had plenty of barbers double-check with you about hair length when they are not sure, or don't think YOU are sure about something. This barber took too many liberties and I may shave it all off. I will not be going back.
So far all the barbers here ave been very skilled. If your over by PG Plaza I definitely recommend them for a good haircut. Its $20 for a regular haircut.
