Stellar Hair Braiding
Reviews
I've been to Stella's three times and I am never going back. The first two visits I had a pretty decent experience: fast, good work and okay customer service but the last time I went, which was yesterday 11/1/14, was terrible. After I told them the services I was seeking I was taken to the chair and the lady began braiding and didn't even ask me what length I wanted, which they normally do. When I told her I wanted them long she proceeded to tell me "Yes that's what I'm doing" and needless to say the finished product wasn't as long as I wanted (I like my braids super long). She kept stopping to go walk around the shop and do things unrelated to my hair. She kept yanking on my braids because she was trying to do other things. And once she was done with my hair she took the smock off of me and just waited for me to leave. She didn't had me a mirror, she didn't turn my chair around to show me the finished product, she didn't say a word to me. And when I got up to look in the mirror myself she didn't even move out of the way so I could see. I gave her a $3 tip, which she didn't like very well, and began blabbering to her co workers before I had even reached the door. I'm sure it was about the tip since earlier one of the other braiding ladies was complaining about a $5 tip. Terrible costumer service, not worth all the money they charge.
Find a good place to go where they speak good English, understand good hair care and will produce a good product. This is not the place! I have natural hair and went to Stella's for Senegalese twists. I'll start out with the good ... they had immediate availability and was fast. For this I gave them 2 stars, but that doesn't equate to a recommendation. Stella, the owner, was nice enough and seemed to understand clearly my request. However, I don't know if things got lost in translation or the two girls braiding my hair just didn't care. The twists was supposed to be like individual braids so they could be worn up in a bun and versatile. I also noticed that most of the twists in the back showed clear separation from where my hair stopped, all fuzzy and coming out of the twists. The front ones weren't like this. The way they did the twists, many started like cornrows, and pulling them a different direction than they were braided did not look good. Within 2 weeks the twists around my edges started falling out with my hair. The size of the parts for the twists were inconsistent - bigger chunks in the back and then in the top of my head they overcrowded the space with smaller parts and tons of twists. I needed something in a rush and I'm paying for it now. A total mess!
