The whole family goes there -- we've done so for years from the time of Marlenny's . Now Arynna continues to keep the place tidy and well-run.

I am a 23-year-old girl and went to get a short haircut at this place, my second time ever, and not only did the girl not ask me what kind of sides I wanted before she cut, but once she cut one side there was no way to change it, so I did not say anything and she cut the other one -- basically this short flat triangular shape that left some of the fine downy hair along the ear showing more prominently than had the sides been longer. Ok, fine, so they will grow out, whatever. But then at the end, she takes out an electric shaver and before I know it she is shaving away the baby hair along my ears and at the back of my neck..I was in total shock and indecision as to what to do in a situation like that; I have never heard of women getting shaved up like that, like men are around the edges of their haircut...on the one hand, I was thinking, well maybe I do not know something, it is only my second time getting a really short haircut; on the other hand, I am terrified because I know what happens when you shave hair -- it grows back darker and thicker!! And, she went over and over in places to get them all clean!! I paid the tip and everything, but when I got home I realized I had made a mistake -- I should have cut her off when I realized what she was doing, even when she only did one and not the other. The point is, she should have asked if this is what I wanted before touching my face -- like she did about whether I wanted shampooing and gel...The place is really shady -- the girls only speak Spanish and cannot communicate with the customers properly, and they all trot around timidly while the owner cracks the whip. All these downsides -- lack of expertise, bad communication, unprofessionalism -- explain why the place is cheap. And, although I know we get what we pay for in an open market, when a business invades your rights like that, it crosses the line from bargain to substandard, and what is worse, to some kind of false imprisonment and assault action.
