Suzi is the best. Excellent customer service and she really listens. Not only that, she gives great recommendations and consultations and helped me find a hairstyle that suits my life and my face. What Tori said below is very true. For the first time ever, I have found the visits to a salon to be enjoyable. She puts the beauty back in beauty salon by making everyone who comes in feel like they are a treasure. Excellent and highly recommended.
From the time I moved to Ithaca from Santa Barbara, CA in 2001, I spent about 5 years trying different salons in attempts to find one with educated stylists. In 2006 I found Jes Styles. The salon was fun and every one of the stylists had GREAT hair. The owner required (and paid for) the gals to go to hair shows regularly, and stay on top of the latest color and styling trends. Everyone leaving the salon looked fantastic. Now Suzie Watkins (Jes Styles owner) has downsized and works only with her sister (Danielle) in a beautiful little studio adjacent to her house in Freeville. She is still the best in the area and still spends a great deal of time continuing her education. (even after 20-some years in the industry). Her customer service is amazing. When she opened her new styling studio, she had everyone fill out questionnaires asking everything from "what kind of music do you prefer to hear during your appointment?" to "what are your general concerns?" I am a satisfied customer of 4 years and would not go anywhere else (I've just about tried them all.)
