Utterly bizarre experience just one hour ago. I saw the positive reviews below about this little local barber shop and, since my 5 year old son's hair was a little shaggy, thought we'd support a local business and walk a few blocks down the street for a haircut. A woman stood in the doorway of Mark's Barber Shop and neither moved or attempted to make eye contact as we approached to enter. Without turning her head to look at me she simply said, "What do *you* want?" Um, fine. I'll play along. "I thought we'd come in for a haircut." "For you or the kid?" she blurted back. "For the boy - nothing special, just a basic haircut." "Fine, come in." For some reason, I didn't yet have the good sense to turn back. My son climbs into the barber chair as the woman (who turned out to be the barber) asked me how I wanted his hair cut. I began to reply, but she looks down at my son who isn't doing anything but quietly sitting there and shouts, "SIT UP!" and then asks me again how to do his hair. I get maybe 3 words into my reply and she cuts me off, "Why can't he just get a haircut like yours?" I could do nothing but smile and almost chuckled. I simply took my son's hand and told him we'll go find a better place for a haircut. More power to her if she can pay the rent running an empty shop while driving away her only customer of the afternoon. On the way out the door, I suggested as politely as I could that perhaps working on her customer service was in order. Cross this place off your list - there's surely a better option elsewhere.
