Hand & Stone Massage and Facial Spa of Charlotte
Reviews
Massage was great however the girl at the front desk post massage was excessively pushy to the point that any consideration of joining in the future was shot.
booked an appointment with William, he was great. however the person at checkout tried to get me to sign up. If i didn't sign up today there would be a application fee of 40.00? if i didn't sign up today the 80 minute deep tissue massage would be 100.00. I explained that other salons only charge 89.99 without a membership and I have also been a member of massage envy and there isn't a application fee with them. I really didn't see what the benefit to signing up was.
My friend recommended Hand & Stone Massage and Facial Spa for a facial. The woman who did my facial was very professional and knowledgable. She answered a lot of my questions about skin care, and offered advice from her experience in the industry. I left feeling refreshed and with a new outlook on skin care. She recommended some face wash and acne spot-treatment from the professional line of skin care products that the spa carries, and explained how and why to use them. I don't live in the area, but I would definitely go regularly if I did.
Since my initial review (poor-fair), I have to say that the manager did contact my daughter, apparently since we rated the Living Social deal so they would know our dissatisfaction. He called to offer her a complimentary facial and apologize and said the esthetician who did her facial wasn't there any longer. I thought that was nice. As a business owner myself, I know that staff can sometimes cast a poor shadow on a very good business and I am willing to give them the benefit of the doubt. My expectations weren't all that high since this was a Living Social, but I was still shocked at how disappointing this was for my daughter, who I gifted this to. As soon as she got there, they started trying to sell her add-on's, which she finally consented to a $20 for a detox (isn't this what a facial is all about anyway?). She said she never knew when the detox was done. The esthetician totally missed her chin and when they were finished, she was surprised that "that was all they were going to do." We've both had plenty of facials so she wasn't expecting anything unusual. Then, she was shocked that they started a sales pitch on her when she was finished while she had gunk on her face they failed to remove. She said they let her walk out the door like that! Thank heavens she looked in the mirror before driving off and meeting her boyfriend for lunch. You'd think, as the 'new guy' in a high rent neighborhood, they'd have only the best estheticians trying to make a great first impression. I'm glad my daughter was honest with me about her experience since I was thinking about giving it a try myself. No way!
